Idle Eden: Sovereign Expanse
IDLE EDEN: SOVEREIGN EXPANSE
Deep Space Industrial Simulation & Incremental Strategy
Status: Free public alpha playtest Latest build: v1.7.1 Alpha Help shape the cluster before the Steam release.
Strip-mine asteroid belts, smelt ore into Triton Core and Pyrite Ingot, fit a hull on a tight Powergrid and CPU budget, then decide whether the next jump is worth the pirates. Idle Eden takes the industrial sandbox of EVE Online and runs it as a deterministic idle: the radar is live when you are at the console, and the queues keep moving when you are not.
Play in the browser. Fullscreen is recommended. Desktop-first (keyboard and mouse).
WHAT’S NEW IN v1.7.1
- Industrial radar silhouettes — Corvettes, prospectors, haulers, and dredge barges now read as working spacecraft, scaled by class. Hostiles scale by threat tier.
- Combat integrity clocks — Concentric Shield / Armor / Hull gauges for you and the hostile on the tactical radar.
- Warp has consequences — Emergency warp and destruction open a debrief: cargo spoilage, modules knocked offline or lost. Station repairs can be offset with Triton Core and Pyrite Ingot.
- Guided spotlight tutorial — First-run orientation across radar, extraction, cargo, reprocessing, market, fitting, skills, map, and fleet. Replay it anytime from Settings.
- Cadet Directives & fleet escorts — Milestone tracker for new commanders; spare hangar hulls can ride shotgun in Frontier and Void-Sec.
In-game changelog: PATCH NOTES in the lower sidebar, or Settings.
THE INDUSTRIAL LOOP
Raw ore → reprocessed minerals → components and ammunition → fitted modules and commissioned hulls. Blueprints take Material Calibration (MC) and Throughput Acceleration (TA). The Market Exchange is a living order book, not a vendor list. Offline, the engine continues skill training and active mining up to cargo limits.
CORE SYSTEMS (ALPHA)
- Three security tiers (risk vs. yield)
- Core-Sec (1.0 – 0.5) — Sentinel Directorate coverage. Safer belts, thinner rocks.
- Frontier (0.4 – 0.1) — Cinnabarite and Staurolite country. Raiders hunt the lanes.
- Void-Sec (0.0 to -1.0) — No law. Kyanite Monoliths, Astra-Quartz, Raw Edenite. Come fitted or come home in a pod.
- 60 FPS tactical radar (PixiJS) — Mining beams, suction motes, missile volleys, drone wings, and shield blooms on a hardware-accelerated 2D canvas.
- EVE-style fitting hangar — High / Mid / Low slots, Powergrid, CPU, capacitor. Lasers, missiles, shield boosters, armor plates, and escort drones. No mining laser in the highs means no extraction.
- Autonomous fleet command — Dispatch spare hulls on mining, haul, or patrol; attach an escort wing before you send them into bad space.
- Sovereign citadels — Anchor refining, defense, and trade structures. Home systems can suppress pirate risk and feed the industrial chain.
- Desktop mini dock — Pop a floating telemetry window above the taskbar (Windows) and keep the belts running while you work. From the itch embed, use POP OUT for a top-level tab, then dock.
- Save backup — One-click JSON export / import in Settings (itch players: keep a copy).
A NOTE FROM THE SOLO DEVELOPER
Commanders — I am building Idle Eden under Night Drift Studios as a one-person passion project.
A live industrial economy, fitting sandbox, tactical radar, and security-tier combat is a lot of game for a single desk. I use modern AI tools as a coding copilot and a sounding board for balance math. The systems, ratios, radar, and feel are designed, tested, and tuned by me.
Because this is a true solo alpha, bug reports, balance notes, and “this jump felt unfair” stories matter. You are steering what this becomes on Steam.
ALPHA FEEDBACK
We are balancing on the road to Steam:
- Did combat losses and repair bills feel readable — or did a warp punish you without explaining why?
- How does early-game fitting feel once the tutorial hands you the hangar?
- Where did the industrial loop stall (ore, minerals, slots, credits, or courage)?
